Beck Technology Celebrates 25 Years

2021 marks our 25th year in business and that is something to celebrate! Not only has our software grown over the years but our headcount has more than doubled in the last five years! We are also proud to be recipients of the Dallas Business Journal's Best Places to Work award since 2018.

Throughout those 25 years, we have hit plenty of major milestones. One of the most significant is the launch of our flagship construction estimating software, DESTINI Estimator, developed in partnership with Sundt Construction.

Sundt Construction was a customer of DESTINI Profiler and in 2011, approached Beck Technology with the idea of partnering to build a detailed estimating system. Disillusioned with MC2 and hearing the platform was being sunset, Sundt turned to Beck Tech and asked us to take the same innovative initiative we had with conceptual estimating in DProfiler and apply it to an end-to-end solution for preconstruction.

At the time, one of the most serious problems with estimating tools was how they were not designed to work together (and still aren’t), causing errors and inefficient processes.

The big idea was to build an integrated preconstruction software that would lead to more efficient workflow and a significant reduction in risk associated with manually moving quantities between separate products. Also, since all data would be introduced directly into the platform, we had the unique opportunity to capture the data throughout the life of a project—a term we call the preconstruction data lifecycle and provide a new set of tools in the platform to allow teams to leverage data from past projects.

DESTINI Estimator was launched in Phoenix on April 24, 2015, at our 8th Annual Beck Technology User Conference. When we announced Estimator at the User Conference there hadn't been a new estimating platform in the construction industry in 12 years and the first fully integrated preconstruction software that combined estimating with 2D and 3D takeoff. The news was exciting not only for our team but for the entire construction industry.

Several of the original team who managed and created our first version of Estimator still work at Beck Tech. They have seen us go from zero DESTINI Estimator clients to over 100 as we have today.

Since then, we’ve continuously enhanced DESTINI Estimator to meet the needs of our users, moved our headquarters to a prime location in downtown Dallas, Texas, grew our internal team, and announced our newest product, DESTINI Bid Day bid leveling software.

As we look toward our future, we continue to incorporate our core values of passion, innovation, and caring into everything we do and believe we are improving not just preconstruction but the entire AEC industry and community.

Cheers to everyone who makes up the Beck Technology team—internally and externally—passion, innovation, and caring are what drive us. Partnering with us means you become part of the revolution!
